ATLANTA, Ga. – January 24, 2008 – The Gospel Music Channel (GMC) gives fans a weekly dose of everything Christian/gospel music
with its new weekly primetime series The Kitchen Sink, with new episodes premiering Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT).
This Sat. Jan. 26, The Kitchen Sink introduces new band After Edmund and features
rising artist Aiyesha Woods along with its regular weekly feature and news stories.
Ayiesha Woods has seen popular and critical acclaim for her power-packed Gotee debut including a nomination for the 2007 Dove Award New Artist of the Year. The album also garnered Woods a GRAMMY nomination for “Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.” Woods has been touring extensively as part of both the “Women of Faith” and “Revolve” conferences and is preparing her sophomore release for this summer.
Georgia alt-rock band After Edmund (named after the Edmund character in C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia) has been electrifying the regional scene and beyond since 2001, touring tirelessly and refining a potent alternative sound. They release their Slanted Records debut, Hello, in February and the early reviews are unanimous in their praise. “Hello is a musical gem,” says The JesusUnderground.com and CCM Magazine raves “Hello is groundbreaking.”
Another highlight of this week’s The Kitchen Sink is a feature on a gospel group involved with The D.C.-based Art and Drama Therapy Institute. This institute treats persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, using innovative approaches to the care and treatment of adults with mental retardation through the use of art, music, movement, and drama therapies.
In the upcoming weeks, Steven Curtis Chapman, Israel Houghton and Jaci Velasquez are among the artists who will make visits to The Kitchen Sink.
The Kitchen Sink is an hour-long music performance, news, entertainment and variety program and is the only national show of its kind featuring Christian and gospel music. In addition to the live in-studio performances, The Kitchen Sink features lively interviews, world premiere videos, the latest entertainment news and previews, undiscovered new talent, inspiring feature stories and more. Episodes of The Kitchen Sink encore Saturday at 11:00 p.m., Sundays at noon, 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Mondays at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. (All times Eastern.)
